How old does one need to be to dive? Anyone over 10 years of age. Having said that, we grant an exception for a few 8 and 9 year olds provided they meet a certain criteria as laid down by our professional divers. What is the global minimum age a child must be before attempting this sport? A majority of scuba diving organizations set the minimum age limit at 12 years. Is there any maximum age limit? While you must be at least 10 years of age to be a certified diver, you can never be too old to attempt it. Is it a difficult sport to learn? No, it isn’t. If you’re comfortable in the water and can swim it will be a walk in the park. However, if you aren’t any of those two things, our instructors will make sure you comfortable to a level where you can enjoy it as well. Is it dangerous? No, it isn’t. Whenever injuries do occur though, it is only because careful attention wasn’t paid during training or the instructor wasn’t certified. Why do my ears hurt when I dive down? This usually happens when the water pressure on your eardrums aren’t equal. While training with us you will learn techniques to correct this phenomenon which may help you when you are on your next flight too. I wear contacts, will that be a problem? Not at all. Make sure your face mask is fastened correctly so that water doesn’t fill up in them and you will be fine. What should a diver never do before diving? Never drink and dive, never eat a big meal before you dive and never lie about any medical condition you may have to your dive instructor before you dive. What is the meaning of ‘Certification’? You get a certificate when you have completed all the training and safety tasks related to scuba diving successfully. What does PADI stand for? Professional Association of Diving Instructors. Know more at http://www.padi.com. What does the acronym SCUBA stand for? Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. Can health conditions prevent me from diving? While anyone who is reasonably fit and in good health can scuba dive, there are some who cannot. For example pregnant women should not dive, while people with a history of lung disease or injury must consult their physician before diving. Do I need to book in advance and if so, how far? If you don’t want to be at the receiving end of a fully booked diving schedule, it is advisable to book in advance. What do I need to carry with me when I come? A bathing suit, towel, toiletries, T-shirts, shorts, and sunscreen lotion. Is it possible for a non-diver to go onboard a dive? Non-divers and snorkelers are welcome on all live aboard. Do bear in mind though that most of these cruises are designed primarily for diving, not snorkeling. Prices for non-divers are Rs. 1500/- per person but children’s below 5 years are not allowed onboard. But please ask for exact details. Is it necessary to be a good swimmer or an experienced diver to scuba dive? No, it is not as our trained personnel have the expertise to cater to beginners as well as experienced divers. Am I allowed to dive with breasts implants or while I’m on my monthly cycle? Yes, it is okay. While diving abroad however or in other local waters, it may be wise to check with the concerned party before you dive in. Can I scuba dive while pregnant? No, it is not. How long do I need to wait before I can sit on a flight after diving? A minimum of 18 and 12 hours of rest is required by experts and beginners respectively before they can board their flights. Can I arrange for a pick-up at my hotel? Yes, though at an additional cost. Can group bookings avail discounts? Yes, they can. Will photos of my dive be available and will I have to purchase them? Yes, we have dive photographers go along for diving sessions. Photos of your dive will be available for viewing after your dive and can be downloaded for free off our facebook page in the following day or two. Video clips of the dive can be purchased at Rs. 1000 per person. Should we tip the staff or is it included in the package? That is left completely up to your discretion. Gratuity is never frowned upon though. Can I cancel my scuba trip? Kindly review our cancellation policy for the same. How many people can the boat accommodate? Approximately 12 meters. What is the duration of the drive? A dive usually lasts an average of 30min, sometimes a little less or more depending on the individual’s comfort level. Will I get a certificate after I complete my diving course? Yes, a PADI certificate can be given for an extra Rs. 500/- per person. What will I be able to see underwater? Corals and a variety of tropical fish. Will we be provided with breakfast and lunch? you only be provided with light snacks and refreshments onboard. Breakfast will be available at the training centre for an affordable price, or you could alternatively bring your own food with you.
