We have the perfect escape route that will lead you to the backwaters of the Chapora River where you can spend a day cruising in a houseboat basking in the sun and admiring the beautiful scenery that surrounds the tranquil backwaters. Emerald banks, abundant palm trees, quaint churches, Goan villages, fishermen in their boats, and a variety of birds are some of the breathtaking sights you will see. If you are an ornithologist or you love bird watching then you are in for a treat.

Chapora River is located in North Goa and flows west towards the Arabian Sea. Vagator Beach lies to the south of the river and Morjim Beach to the North. This river was the demarcation of Portuguese Goa and India during the Portuguese rule in Goa.

You will see the ruins of Chapora Fort on top of a hill. It was built in 1617, however the fort you will see was constructed a century later and replaced the old construction. The fort is now in ruins but the view from the top remains wondrous especially when you’re gazing at the expanse of the Arabian Sea.

The houseboat will sail west towards the Arabian Sea and then north to Morjim Beach where you can swim or splash about in the azure waters. If you’re lucky you will be able to spot dolphins along the way.

This amazing day trip begins with a pick up from your hotel. You will step aboard the houseboat at 1330 hrs (1:30 pm) and begin a glorious afternoon. The day ends at 1630 hrs (4:30 pm). The houseboat will return to the Siolim Jetty where your ride back to the hotel waits for you.

You will be able to sample an authentic Goan meal or Indian cuisine. You can also give fishing a try.

The cost of the trip is Rs. 2700 per person which is inclusive of a pick up, drop off, lunch, tea or coffee, and mineral water. This is the perfect trip for a family or a group of friends. The minimum pax is a group of four. This is an enjoyable trip for children and adults alike.

You are welcome to use the upper deck. It is ideal for basking in the sun and working on your tan. Please supervise your children if they wish to go there. The afternoon rays are not as harsh as midday but using a sun block is always good.

This trip is held daily from the months of November to May. The waters are calm and clear which make cruising down the Chapora backwaters a pleasant experience. The afternoons can be hot so make sure your clothes are light and preferably cotton especially if you are not used to the Goan heat and humidity.

A change of clothes, swimwear, a towel, sunblock, a pair of shoes that has a good grip (you can wear flip-flops once you’re in the houseboat), a hat/ cap, a camera, and a pair of binoculars (if you have one).
